We build one of these, so read the numbers rather than our opinion. Every figure was read on each company's own pricing page on the date shown, in a browser, with the billing toggle set to monthly.
Why the number jumps the way it does
These are seat tier products, not per client pricing. You do not pay for 26 clients, you buy the tier that holds 26, which means your bill moves in steps rather than a line.
That has a consequence worth planning around. Crossing a threshold by a single client can cost you real money. On Trainerize, going from 30 clients to 31 moves you from 79 dollars a month to 135. On TrueCoach, going from 20 to 21 moves you from 69.98 to 164.98, which is more than double for one extra person.
The practical move is to know where your next threshold is before you sign your next client, so the jump is a decision rather than a surprise on a card statement.
Where the money actually hides
The sticker price is the part everyone compares and the least useful part of the comparison. The bigger differences are in what the sticker leaves out.
Trainerize puts several things behind separate add ons: advanced nutrition coaching, a business add on, video coaching and Stripe integrated payments are all billed on top, and a custom branded app is a 169 dollar one time fee on Pro. A coach who wants nutrition and payments is not paying the Pro number.
Everfit charges 39 dollars a month for meal plans and recipe books and 9 for payments and packages, with automation from 29 and on demand collections at 25. Their Pro sticker is genuinely low, and a coach who needs nutrition is adding almost half again to it.
TrueCoach includes a custom branded app on Standard and Pro, which is a real advantage, and has no free tier at all, which is a real disadvantage. It also stops publishing prices past 50 clients.
PT Distinction is the only one of the five that sells extra clients rather than forcing an upgrade, at 6, 2.40 and 1.60 dollars a month per client depending on your tier. That flexibility is genuinely useful, and it means their real cost is often lower than their tier list suggests.
BryksBuilt includes every feature on every paid tier, so the number you see is the number you pay, plus 2 percent of any payments you collect through your own Stripe. Annual billing saves up to 29 percent. White label is the exception: a one time purchase rather than something bundled into a plan.
Who should not pick us
A comparison where the company writing it wins every category is worth nothing, so here is where we would send you elsewhere.
If you need a custom branded app and you want it included rather than bought once, TrueCoach and PT Distinction include it on their paid tiers and we charge for it separately.
If you are running a studio with multiple locations and dozens of staff, Trainerize Studio Plus and Everfit Studio are built for that shape and we are not.
If you have three clients and expect to stay there, PT Distinction Basic at 19.90 is a sensible place to sit, though our free tier holds five for nothing.
What to actually compare on
Once the prices are within twenty dollars a month of each other, and at most client counts they are, the price stops being the decision. Three things matter more.
Whether the client experience is any good. You are not the user. Your clients are, every day, and the app they open is the product you are actually selling.
Whether it keeps clients for you. Acquiring a client is brutal and expensive. Software that tells you who is slipping before they cancel is worth more than a twenty dollar saving, because one retained client covers the whole subscription several times over.
Whether the money is clean. Payments through your own account, in your name, reconcilable at tax time, is a different thing from payments routed through a platform.

Where a cell says ask them, we have no published price to quote at that client count: TrueCoach stops publishing past 50, and Trainerize prices its studio tiers per location rather than per coach. PT Distinction cells above 50 clients are worked out from the per extra client rate they publish, so they are derived rather than quoted. Annual billing is cheaper on most of these: Trainerize saves 10 percent, Everfit 16, BryksBuilt up to 29. Add ons are excluded from every column, which flatters the platforms that charge for nutrition and payments separately.

Price is the easy part of this decision and rarely the deciding one. Here is the honest read on each, including where someone else beats us.

How much does personal trainer software cost?
Between nothing and a few hundred US dollars a month, and where you land depends almost entirely on your client count. At 25 clients on monthly billing the five platforms compared here run from 22.99 to 164.98 a month. At 100 clients four of them run from 99.99 to 225, and TrueCoach stops publishing a price above 50. The spread is wide because these are seat tier products: you buy the smallest tier that holds your roster, so passing a threshold by one client can cost you a lot.
Which coaching platform is cheapest?
It changes with your client count, which is the whole reason this page has a calculator instead of a winner. At five clients BryksBuilt and Everfit tie at nothing, because both have a genuinely free tier that holds five. From fifteen clients up BryksBuilt is the cheapest in the table. TrueCoach has no free tier at all, so its meter starts at your first client, and it stops publishing prices past 50.
Is a free personal trainer app plan actually useful?
It depends what the free tier holds. Ours and Everfit's each hold five clients with no time limit, which is enough to run a real side business. Trainerize's free tier holds one client and its next tier up holds two, so it is closer to a trial than a plan. Read the client cap before the feature list.
What is not included in the sticker price?
This is where the real money hides. Trainerize charges separately for advanced nutrition, a business add on, video coaching and Stripe payments, and a custom branded app is a 169 dollar one time fee. Everfit charges 39 a month for meal plans and recipe books and 9 for payments and packages. BryksBuilt includes every feature on every paid tier and takes 2 percent of payments you collect through your own Stripe.
Should I switch platforms to save money?
Only if the money is meaningful against the disruption, and for most coaches under 25 clients it is not. Moving means rebuilding programs, re onboarding every client and losing your history. The switch is usually worth it when you are about to cross a tier threshold that doubles your bill, or when you are paying add on fees for something another platform includes.
Do these prices include tax?
No. Every figure here is the list price in US dollars on monthly billing, before any sales tax or VAT your country adds, and before currency conversion if you do not pay in dollars. Annual billing is cheaper on most of them, between 10 and 29 percent depending on the platform.
