Fitbod alternatives in 2026: what they cost, and why you cannot compare them in a browser
Apple stopped showing in app purchase prices on its web listings, and almost nobody in this category publishes a price on their own site. We include ourselves in that. Here is what each app charges, where the number actually lives, and the one app that charges more on its own website than in the App Store.
Fitbod does one job: it decides what your next session should be, then logs it. Most people comparing it are not really shopping for a cheaper Fitbod. They are deciding whether they want the session chosen for them at all.
Before any of that, there is a problem with this whole category that you have probably already hit.
You can no longer compare these prices in a browser
On September 21, 2026 we opened every one of these apps' own websites, and then their App Store listings, looking for a number.
Apple has stopped rendering in app purchase prices on its web listings. Every listing we checked now confirms only that in app purchases exist, with no prices beside them. It used to print the full price list; our own earlier pages captured those numbers on September 7 and 8, 2026, and the same URLs no longer show them.
And most of these companies do not publish a price on their own site. Hevy's Pro article lists every feature you get and no number. Strong's does the same. Caliber's membership page has no price, and its FAQ page has no question about cost.
We are not innocent here. BryksBuilt does not publish its consumer price anywhere on this website either. Our pricing page covers coaching plans only. We should fix that, and pointing at other people's version of the same gap while having our own would be worth nothing.
So the price now lives in the App Store on your phone, and almost nowhere else. That is the honest state of this market in 2026.

The App Store column was read on September 8, 2026, when Apple still displayed those figures on its web listings. It no longer does, so you cannot currently check that column from a desktop. Open the App Store on your phone and you will see the live number.
Fitbod costs more on its own website than in the App Store
This is the most useful thing on this page, and it falls straight out of the table.
Fitbod's help centre lists 15.99 US dollars a month and 95.99 a year. Its App Store listing on September 8 showed 12.99 a month and 79.99 a year. That is 3 US dollars a month and 16 US dollars a year of difference, for the same product, depending only on where you press subscribe.
Fitbod is upfront that this happens. Its own note reads: "Prices may vary based on region, promotions, and platform (App Store, Google Play, or website)." Most people never read that line, subscribe on whichever surface they happen to be on, and never find out.
Check both before you commit. This is not unique to Fitbod, it is just the only one here we can prove, because it is the only one that publishes a website price to compare against at all.
Hevy's free tier got tighter, and quietly
Worth flagging because it changed recently and the internet has not caught up.
Hevy's help centre today lists its free version as 4 routines, 3 months of data history and 7 custom exercises, with unlimited routines, all time history, unlimited custom exercises, the warm up calculator and its Trainer feature all reserved for Pro.
Our own reading of Hevy's App Store listing on September 7, 2026 described the free version as having unlimited routines. Two weeks later its own help centre says the limit is 4. Its rating count moved from 91,000 to 94,000 over the same period, so the listing was genuinely being updated.
If you picked Hevy because the free tier was generous, it is worth rechecking what you actually have.
The real choice is which job you are buying
If you want the session decided for you. That is Fitbod's entire reason to exist and it is the specialist. Worth asking whether you want that permanently or only until you learn to program your own training.
If you already know what you are doing. Hevy and Strong are both excellent logs, both have real free tiers, and both are substantially cheaper than everything else here. If you write your own programme, an AI generator is solving a problem you do not have.
If you want a person. Caliber is not really a workout app competing on features. It is human coaching with nutrition and habit work attached, priced like coaching rather than software. You will need to book a consultation to find out what that costs.
If the food is the missing half. Fitbod, Hevy and Strong are training apps and none of them logs your food. If you subscribe to one and separately pay for a nutrition app, you are paying twice for one habit.
Where BryksBuilt sits, including the unflattering parts
This is our own product, so read this section knowing that.
BryksBuilt is 14.99 US dollars a month or 69.99 a year, read from our own App Store listing on September 8, 2026. Canadian cards are charged 19.99 Canadian dollars a month or 99.99 a year. For that you get training and food in one subscription: workouts, meal plans, recipes, a grocery list and an AI coach.
Three things a fair comparison has to say:
- Our AI is mostly behind Pro too. Your first AI program is built free during onboarding, with one free retry if it fails. After that, generating a program is Pro, and so are ad hoc workout generation, the AI coach, meal plan generation, recipe generation and the photo food scan. Free covers tracking your training, logging food by barcode, and friends, the feed, groups, challenges and the leaderboard.
- Against Hevy and Strong we are five times the price. If all you want is a clean training log, they are the right answer and we are not.
- We do not publish this price on our own website, which is the exact gap this page opens by criticising.
The case for BryksBuilt is one subscription covering the training and the eating, not that our training half is cheap or free.
What to check before you subscribe to anything here
- Open the App Store on your phone and read the live price. It is now the only reliable place, and the figure you see is the figure you pay.
- If the app also sells on its own website, compare the two. Fitbod's differ by 3 US dollars a month.
- Check what the free tier loses, not what it has, and check it recently. Hevy's changed inside two weeks.
- Count your subscriptions. A training app plus a nutrition app plus a recipe app is three bills for one goal.

The short answers
How much does Fitbod cost?
It depends where you subscribe, which is unusual enough to be worth knowing. Fitbod's own help centre lists 15.99 US dollars a month, or 95.99 US dollars a year which it describes as effectively 8.00 US dollars a month. Its US App Store listing, read on September 8, 2026, showed a monthly plan at 12.99 US dollars and a year of Fitbod Elite at 79.99 US dollars. Fitbod's help centre says outright that prices vary by region, promotion and platform, so check both before you pick one.
Why can I not find the price of these apps?
Two reasons stack up. Most of these companies do not put a price on their own website: Hevy's Pro article and Strong's Pro article both list every feature and no number, and Caliber's membership page and FAQ contain no price and no question about cost. And Apple has stopped rendering in app purchase prices on its web listings, which we confirmed on September 21, 2026 across several of these apps. So the price now lives in the App Store on your phone and almost nowhere else. We do not publish our consumer price on our own site either, which we are fixing.
What is the best free alternative to Fitbod?
Hevy or Strong, as long as you understand they do a different job: they log the session you chose rather than choosing it for you. Be aware Hevy's free tier got tighter recently. Its help centre now lists free as 4 routines, 3 months of data history and 7 custom exercises, where our own earlier reading of its App Store listing on September 7, 2026 described free as unlimited routines. If you want the session written for you, free is not really on offer anywhere.
What is the difference between Fitbod and a workout tracker?
Fitbod decides what you should do next and then logs it. Hevy and Strong log what you already decided. That sounds like a small difference and it is the entire product. If you already know how to program your training, an AI generator is solving a problem you do not have. If you do not, a tracker hands you a blank page every session.
Is BryksBuilt's AI workout generation free?
Mostly no, and we would rather be precise than flattering. Your first AI program is built free during onboarding, and you get one free retry if that build fails. Which one should I pick?
Pick by the job. If you want the session decided for you and nothing else, Fitbod is the specialist. If you already program your own training and want a clean log, Hevy or Strong, and both are cheaper. If you want an actual human coach with nutrition attached, Caliber, once you have got a price out of them. If you want the training and the food in one subscription, that is the case for BryksBuilt.
Do any of them include nutrition?
Fitbod, Hevy and Strong are training apps and do not log your food. Caliber includes nutrition coaching as part of its human coaching model. BryksBuilt does both in one subscription, which is the main reason to consider it over a dedicated workout generator, though the AI parts of both halves are behind Pro.
